Pur avendo sede a Roma, i Terranova hanno agenti in tutta Europa, specie nei paesi meridionali. Sono straordinari geologi, speleologi, zoologi, botanici, paleontologi, metallurgi, alchimisti, farmacisti. Si trovano perfettamente a loro agio nel sottosuolo (l’Italia è ricca di cunicoli e labirinti sotterranei misteriosi).
I caratteri più tipici dei Terranova sono segretezza e creatività. La loro opera è spesso difficile da individuare, perché ben occultata e sorprendente nelle forme di attuazione. Il loro difetto, invece, è la scarsa solidarietà: abituati ad agire individualmente, sono dilaniati da lotte di fazione. Una tradizionale ostilità li divide dagli Aquaté, contro cui hanno combattuto guerre spietate. Più complesso è invece il rapporto con Flambeaux e Lichtenborn, con i quali i Terranova hanno alternato momenti di cooperazione ad altri di lotta senza tregua.
Attuale patriarca della stirpe è Sauro Terranova, sposato a Diana e padre del piccolo Auro.

Even if based in Rome, the Terranova family has agents all over Europe, especially in Southern countries. They are extraordinary geologists, speleologists, zoologists, botanists, palaeontologists, metallurgists, alchemists, pharmacists. They are at perfect ease underground: in fact Italy is full of tunnels and mysterious nether labyrinths.
Secrecy and creativity are their most characteristic traits. Their work is often difficult to spot, because well hidden and realised in unpredictable ways.
Their flaw, on the other hand, is their lack of solidarity: used to act alone, they are torn by faction fights. An old hostility with the Aquaté family caused ruthless wars. More complex is their relationship with Flambeaux and Lichtenborns, with whom the Terranovas alternated periods of cooperation with others of incessant fights.
Patriarch of the family is now Sauro Terranova, married to Diana and father of little Auro.
